The kitchen will be safe yes but don't spray any aerosols or fly sprays near the hamster cage it can kill your hamster. Maybe put your hamster in a spare room or the living room. It depends if your kitchen is warm, cold or hot hamsters hate being too cold and they hate being to hot as it's summer I think you should put your hamster in a cool place with the windows open in the winter you should put your hamster in a warm place.
