I thought they didnt like water. They just clean themeselves.
You don’t have to bathe gerbils. Gerbils know how to groom there own selves. Please don’t put it through. It will probably be scared, and might get sick. If you really want to make cure it is clean. Give it a sand bath. Just take some sand, and put it in a bowl. Put your gerbils in, and pour some sand on them. Not on their face though. Make sure you rub it in really well. There fur will be so soft after!=)
Good luck!
thye have special powders
Even though you can bathe some rodents, I wouldn’t reccomend it. If you wanted to make the gerbil smell better, they have sprays and special salt that they can roll and dig around in that clean them and smell good. But if you really insist bathing the poor rodent, they have critter shampoos at pet stores.
Don’t bathe it in water–use sand!
Try the sand used for chinchilla baths.. most gerbils love to roll in it and it helps clean their fur.
Just put it in a little dish occasionally that they can access easily and the gerbil will do the rest!
Make sure to use the Chinchilla SAND, though, not the DUST, because the dust is too fine for gerbils and can get in their eyes, nose, etc.
CHECK OUT THIS WEBSITE and read about the sand bath!http://www.petermaas.nl/gerbils/toys.htm…
Tide with Bleach. Make sure not to swallow thought after the bathing the gerbil with your tongue though until you rinse out your mouth really well. The bleach might not be too good for you tummy.
If you insist on bathing a gerbil, use a baby shampoo, do not use a detergent
but, you know they take care of their own cleanliness
If possible use special powder – if you use water they can get wet tail, a possibly deadly illness.
