I am 10. I want a small pet but i dont know what one and my mum will not let me have one . How can i get a small pet.

The hamster choices are between regular, teddy and dwarf.
And the cages are between a two level wired cage costing 65 bucks plus tax or a 1 level wired cage costing 40 bucks plus tax.

How should i know if they’re friendly or not sick by just looking at them at the store? How do I pick which hamster i want?
I went to Petco today just to look at the hamsters, (i’m not good with the types of hamsters still) there was a brown one and an albino one and a white one with black eyes. I want the albino one because it was soo cute. but how do i know it’s healthy? because i also saw a fance dwarf hamster and it looked like it had a wet tail.

My hamster just died and i’m thinking about getting a gerbil cuz i’ve heard they bite less. I still miss my hamster but boy did she bite alot!

My thirteen year old daughter just bought her first gerbil and we are not sure on the type of bedding to use. A website told us not to use anything fluffy, but the pet store gave us soft shredded paper. This paper feels almost like cotton. What is the best bedding we should use?
