do i have to change the water everyday?

Well, reason I am wondering, I switched to hay bedding after using this papery mulch bedding and after I switched to the hay after awhile my hamster got DEATHLY sick. I made sure she was fed, had water, clean cage… but nothing was working. I want to get another hamster [Kookie died because there was nothing I could do] and I want to know, does the hay bedding kill hamsters?

dish soap?? I was reading an article and it said to soak the cage in the tub with somthing…i think it was dish soap, but i wanted to make sure. Is it okay to wash my hamster cage with dish soap??

Me and my mom were thinking that my hamster Rocky might like some fresh fruits or vegetables instead of just dry seeds all the time. Are there any kinds of fruits or veggies that are NOT good for them, or any that hamsters really like?

My thinking is that it’ll be something interesting they can observe and bite on, but I’m not sure if it is in anyway harmful.

i read somewhere that the hamster cage shouldn’t be put in a place where food is prepared, and i can’t put the hamster in the living room or the bedroom because she run on her wheel at night and it’ll made me stay up all night. thanks for answering =D

I have a Gerbil and I know that Gerbils are from the desert so I was wondering if I could switch her cage bedding with sand.

I know gerbils are social creatures, and since I only have one gerbil at the moment, would it be beneficial/safe to let him run around for a bit with my guinea pigs?

I’m asking this because I am planning to put my hammy in the living room, but i heard that they need quiet and peaceful moments. So I have a upright piano in my living room, and i wondered if it is ok, to move my hammy in a cage upstairs and then when the pianoing is happening i move it upstairs and when im not i move it back downstairs? Is that healthy? Has anyone done that before? Will it cause confusion?

I was wondering if i could mark a gerbil with a colored marker or something like that to tell me what gender the gerbil is? Would it be bad for the gerbils health. please comment.
