I’m getting ready to buy a hamster, and I want it to feel “at home” I want to know what kind of hamster cage is the best plastic, wire, or a fish tank?

I have used vegetable oil on the wheel but my gerbils always lick it all off and in a day or two the wheel is squeaky again. what is a safe, cheap alternative? can i use car oil?

They have food in there dish but anything I give to them (lettuce, carrots, cheese, ect) they wont take. What are treats that ppl feed there gerbils?

i really want a small pet of my own, but i don’t know what to get.
i need somthing that doesn’t make to much noise and does not need a large area of space. and i need somthing that lives in a cage but i can take it out and hold too.

My hamster is mostly brown except for his belly which is white, and the black stripe that goes down his back. I’m not sure, but I’m guessing he’s around 4 inches. Just a guess.

I used to have a male pet mouse, and even though I always cleaned his cage, he made my room smell pretty bad. And he peed everywhere he walked.
What kind of small rodent (ie, one that can live in a mouse’s cage) could I get that doesn’t pee everywhere and doesn’t smell?
I’m guessing I should get a female of whatever it suggested, since the whole peeing thing was probably due to my last rodent being male.
