I really want a hamster, but I’m not sure if I can afford it. I heard it costs about $80 startup including cage, etc. and then about $20 per month? Also what kind of cage/wheel/ball should I get for a black bear syrian?

Once in awhile when I clean out my hamster cage.I noticed some of her bedding has blood on it. Do hamsters have periods? Or is this blood somthin different?
She is 7 months old.

In particular that pink/yellow paper that ballpoint pens write through. I have a huge trashbag at work, and I’d like to use it if at all possible, but I don’t want to do anything that will hurt the gerbils.

okay i just got the all natural bedding that looks like balls lol. and the cage came with pine bedding, i know this can cause problems
BUT…is it okay if i can put the all natural stuff on the top and the pine on the bottom, i want to use up the pine. my mom thinks it will somehow mask the scent of pine in a way…is it okay to put 2 diff kinds of bedding in?
and then the question in the description.

I havent had a hamster in about seven years, and I have a ton of hamster bedding left. Im about to get a hamster and I was wondering if it goes bad, because I dont want the new hamster to get sick.

Well, reason I am wondering, I switched to hay bedding after using this papery mulch bedding and after I switched to the hay after awhile my hamster got DEATHLY sick. I made sure she was fed, had water, clean cage… but nothing was working. I want to get another hamster [Kookie died because there was nothing I could do] and I want to know, does the hay bedding kill hamsters?

i use CareFresh( i got it from petsmart) and me and my 2 dwarf hamsters LOVE IT!!!! it really absorbs wetness and keeps in odor, and you only have to clean it out FULLY about every 2 weeks, depending on ur hammie. my hammies have a certain spot where they go to the bathroom, so i just clean up that spot every coupla days. it is very soft, and my hammies love to burrow in it. its not dusty either, so no little particles get in my pets eyes. another reason why i love it is because you can buy it it so many different colors!!!! i currently have blue, my fav color, and it works great!!! i also love how you can buy them in many different sizes! the medium size is only five dollars if you have a petsmart card! heres a link:http://www.petsmart.com/family/index.jspā¦
sorry ur gonna have to copy and paste it into the search browser. Hope i helped!! and good luck!!
