How long is too too long for a hamster’s teeth to be? Because my hamster’s teeth is around 1cm to 1.5cm(I saw when she was yawning). Is it too long? And if a hamster had a top tooth pulled out would the bottom tooth right under the missing tooth keep on growing because it doesn’t have anything pushing it from the top? Please help, thanks.

How long is too long for a hamster’s teeth to be? Good question. I’ve never come across an actual measurement for hamsters’ teeth yet, But under normal circumstances a hamsters teeth will be kept short by continuous wear as the upper and lower contact each other (occlusion), so preventing overgrowth. It is important that you check your hamster’s teeth regularly, especially as they get older as the teeth are more prone to breaking and becoming crooked.
If this happens it makes it difficult for hamster to eat properly, and eventually can lead to injury.
Some of the signs to watch for are drooling, ( excessive amounts of saliva trailing from the mouth) not eating, weight loss, Yes, if the top one is missing the bottom one will grow on, as it has nothing to bite on. In this case the teeth will need regular clipping. 1.5 does seem a bit excessive, but the gap between the top and bottom teeth should be wide enough for her to take food quite easily. If you think they may need shortening, take her along to your vet and have a word with him. Clipping a hamster’s teeth is a very quick and simple process. I clip all my own hamsters’ teeth when necessary, if they do need to be done regularly he will show you how to do it, so you can do it your self. Rather than keep going back every month or so.
give the hamster a wood chew stick and everytime they finish one give it another one, that is how they keep their teeth trimmed
hamster teeth dont need to be cliped i breed hamsters i would know good thing you asked
im not sure how long the teeth should be.
you dont usually have to trim teeth.
in fact, you shouldnt need to.
hamsters should have something like a chew stick such as a block of wood [make sure it wasnt treated with anything!]
cardboard also works
(=
Unless the hamster is having problems eating or if its teeth is cutting into the flesh of the mouth, she shouldn’t need to have them clipped. Provide your hamster with wooden chews (a wooden house works too) and she’ll keep her teeth down by herself.
google it who knows i dnt think most people really no so goolge it
You should get her a chewning block, and she can get them down naturally.
You can also take her to the vet if she is dribbeling/not eating/ panting/getting thinner. This means her teeth are way to long and she can’t eat.
In the future try to not take her to the vet, as it can be stressfull. Hope this helps!
you don’t clipped they bit wood to make them smaller
u shod take it to the pet stor and they will tell u
