This is what i did to get a hamster: (My mom is hard to convince and this worked!) Here are some tips:

1. keep your room clean
2.do chores around the house to get extra money so u can buy the stuff yourself
3. Show responsibility
4. be mature
5. write essays and add up the total of all the supplies you need. It makes you look responsible
6. they only cost $10-$20
7. they dont smell unless u dont pick up their pee and poop
8. they DONT carry diseases if you get them from a reliable pet store
9. dwarves hamsters/rats are smaller so they should be easier to deal with and their poop is smaller
10. Never give up!
11. Also try to take them to the pet store and show them how cute they are, how great they are, etc…
You want to try to get two so show them this:http://www.ratfanclub.org/single.html
Good luck!!
Rats are some of the easiest pets to take care of. They clean themselves CONSTANTLY. Basically all you need to do is give them food when it runs out, same with water, and change their bedding about once a week. Plus just holding them 20 minutes a day or so. Have your parents go to a pet store and talk to them. They were very helpful for us and could answer your parents questions.
If you get a rat, it is VERY important that you get two. They are VERY social animals. Even if you hold them all day long they still need the attention of another rat. It’s just as easy to take care of two as it is to take care of one.
You mean how to convince your parents to get 2-3 rats, right? I tried a lot with my mom and ultimately failed. It really all depends on your parents. Don’t try to push it on them fast. Maybe you can try to get straight As for a year and say they would be your reward? Try making a deal with them, that is most likely to work.
Good choice on picking rats as a pet. they are cuddly, smart, and never bite. first let them know how cute rats are so you won’t sound crazy. If you have another pet,(like a family dog) take care of it a lot (like changing the litter box, and stuff you wouldn’t normally do. Rats cost a lot of money when it comes to cages and food, so you might want to save AT LEAST near 100 dollars to spend on them. you also should also get a lot of
information on rats to prove
to your parents that you know a lot about them and is responsable enough to take care of a rat. This is a good website:

hope this helps!
P.S get two rats that are the same gender at the same time. If you get one it will get lonely.
Explain to them that rats are very good pets. They dont stink, they dont bite, and they are easy to handle. They should be very friendly. If you are going to get one, I would probably get 2 because they like to have a buddy. You have to watch though if you get 2 males. When they get older they might fight with eachother, where as females dont do that.
well, this is what i did, although i don’t think its gonna work for you cause mines is stupid. lol, but eventually i got 2 rats! first of all buy a cage, bedding, and all the supplies for the rats. then pick your favorite uncle or auntie or cousin that love you! and like to buy you stuff. tell them to buy you 2 rats. within a few days they’ll buy you one! thats what happened to me. and im sorry i acted like a spoiled girl or something.
Try to persuade them to let you. Show how responsible you are and then make sure they see how much you really want a pet rat or 2. My parents were the same way and after a month of persuading and being responsible i finally got my hamster smores! Hope this helped you!
Do a LOT of research and show them you are capable of taking care of a rat
Don’t get a rat. They’re filthy, and nasty, and about everything else. I only know the sewer rat kind anyway.
Susan you’re so wrong.Your opinion of rats is so mean. What if i called you filthy and nasty. It isn’t true is it.That’s the same about rats.
I am just like you. I really really REALLY want a pet rat. I have had 5 in my lifetime and i want another one. I have all of the money and prices figured out but the only problem is that my parents dont exactly agree with me. I have a very nice grandma that gets me everything (not to sound spoiled or anything) and im gonna try and persuade her. Lol. well good luck and wish me luck too.
SUSAN IS SO WRONG!! I HAVE DONE DAYS WORTH OF RESEARCH AND THEY ARE CLEAN, NICE, INTELLIGENT AND THEY CARE FOR THEIR OWNER. I say, if you want a pet rat THAT bad, you should try what anonymous said. Also, tell them you have the money TO buy it(or them) yourself! Parents love not spending money! Well, I mean one stuff they don’t care for anyway. That will show that you have FULL responsibility on taking care of your rat(s)! GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND LEXI!!
