Now I know gerbils sleep off and on but they seem to waking up around ten and staying up for a few hours. i am in high school and start going to bed around 11. they are constantly thudding on that “silent” wheel they have. would my best bet be putting them in the laundry room overnight? or is there a better answer? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated =]

Whatever you do: do NOT put begetable oil on the wheel!
Take it out over night if you must, or put them in another room. Mine sleep in the living room. I can’t have them in my bedroom because they keep me awake with their constant tunnel building!
Yea I know… it’s terrible it happened to me all the time it’s soooooooo annoying!!! You can’t train the gerbil or anything. Mine never went in his wheel, all night he just chewed on his cage. I learned to sleep through it but before I could sleep through it I just put his cage outside my door and in the morning bring him back in. There’s nothing else you can really do because you can’t make them stop chewing
I totally understand. I’m in high school as well, and I have a hamster. Her wheel is supposed to be silent but it always squeaks. Put vegetable oil on the wheel to stop the annoying noise. But don’t put any other kind of oil, because it can hurt rodents.
Hope I helped
Vegetable oil on the wheel will keep it quiet, and as for the noise I think the laundry room overnight is a good idea, provided it’s indoors and in a safe place (no dogs, cats…)
My freshman roommate in college had a pair of gerbils and she just stuck the cage in her closet at night and took them back out in the morning. “silent” wheels aren’t really silent, lol.
take all the stuff out of his cage! Water bottles, toys ect. Then maybe fill it up with cotton balls stead of woodchips! Tah dah
