My hamster, Eddie, is in a bar cage. Even though we put a twisty on the cage to keep him in, he gets out. what else can i do to keep him in?

My friend bought a little albino rodent from PetCo, and told me it was a mouse. I show it to another friend, and he says it’s a gerbil. I went to Google Images and searched for “albino mouse” and “albino gerbil” and they are pretty damn similar. Is there any way to tell them apart?

Someone gave my daughter a hamster village that is very nice and has tunnels everywhere. She wants a Hamster for it now but I think of mice and rats when I think of Hamsters because I never had one. Do you know if mothers get used to hamsters and can learn to like them?

my hamster just died of wet tail this morning after trying to fight it for a few weeks now and i have been up set crying all morning i cant think right now can anyone tell me if it is ok to soak my hamster cage in bleach all day so it wont hurt any other hammies if i put them in it thanks

Teddy’s nose is red, bald, and looks a tiny bit swollen. It spreads from a little bit above his nose and goes al the way down to his mouth. I’ve read that it could be an allergic reaction to the bedding. I checked what his bedding is made out of and it’s the CareFresh brand made with no cedar or pine. I have no idea what could be going on. Can anyone help?

Dont have links, but can tell you that the ones you get at the pet store that are pink or blue or purple, are TOO EXPENSIVE and are MADE VERY CHEAPLY and the hamsters know how to GET OUT OF THEM. I have 4 of them and gave one to a grandchild also. All of the hamsters got out, especially the dwarf hamsters got out really easily. They learn how to push the door open, we tied it shut, they bit off the tie; one hamster pushed the lid off withhis head, another one opened the hole in the top, another pushed the water bottle up until he got out….crazy. Those cages are so muchjunk. The best really is the plastic one about l gallon or w gallon size that looks like a little fish tank but has the circle holes on top with the water bottles. i have one of those. it isnt cool, but it is safe. Another one we have used is the glass one that looks like a small fish tank, but has the lid and the holes with the water bottle on top. Obviously, the ones where you can add the connectors is the most fun. I put one of the tubes in my pink cage and attached it to the hole that goes to the “bedroom” on the upper level, but my hamster didnt seem to like having to walk that far to bed. lol. He is a verylarge hamster, long hair, Michigan Fluffy. Those built in wheels are a pain cause they are noisy and mine likes to run in it all night so i take it out when i want to sleep. My grand daughter who i gave a hamster to….found a long not very high white cage with bars at a garage sale for 3 bucks including the igloo, food dish, metal wheel….she loves it. I wish i could find one like that. You ought to check out craigslist under pets, i find a lot of hamster stuff on there; or try cheap cycle, or free cycle. You could even put in a free ad asking for what you want. i did that and have had a lot of success. Ask your mom what she thinks. Be cautious when u buy a partner for your hasmter, my grand daughter had a male, bought another male, turned out one was female and now they have babies….12 in one litter.

I have a dwarf hamster and he runs everywhere in my room. I want to make him a small playpen to put him in when he is out. I have a hamster ball but he gets bored with it ha ha. I don’t want to buy one because at the store they are too big. And I don’t want a kiddie pool because they are too big too and I also don’t want to use wire. So does anyone know how to make a little playpen for hamsters?

The only place to drop off unwanted pocketpets(rodents mostly) here is the SPCA, no one knows they have them and they often get put down. I have the space, knowlage and expericne with working in a shelter(the SPCA). I would like to know how to become certified, and get funding!

My little nephew came over my house today, and he broung over his little gerbil. He said it doesn’t bite, and when i reached in the cage to play with it, the little sucker bite the shyut out of my finger! And when i try to pull away, it still hung on! Now, my whole finger is swolen, and has a deep mark where he bite at.
Now my nephew told me he never took it to the vet.
Should i be worried?
