We have a Habittrail cage for our Teddy Bear Hamster, but we also have a cat. He keeps knocking the extra attachments, (water bottle, wheel) off the cage, and once, the whole thing off the shelf (where we thought he would be safe!). We tried:
Putting the cage in a closet.
Putting it higher
Locking the bedroom door!
I think it would be a good idea to put the cage in a larger cage. Do you have any suggestions on what type of cage, how it would effect the hamster, or any better ideas?

Well I had a new little hamster (RIP Mr. Pudding) die of wet tail. We want to get another hamster soon- but I am scared to use the same cage. How do I really know it is clean enough not ot infect the new hammie?
Thanks!

I have two gerbils. One will be three in a few months and the other is about one and a half. They are both healthy and energetic, but while he younger one always looks nice and groomed the older one looks as if she is always greasy and unkempt. I see them grooming each other sometimes though so I don’t know why she looks like this. Is there anything I can do to safely help the old gal ditch the greasy look? I have already tried sand baths (which the younger one loves), but the older gerbil doesn’t seem interested.

Okay so I am getting a Dwarf bunny and I am planning on litter training him/her and I was wondering if it would be okay for him/her to live in a hamster cage for about 1-2 weeks on and off until we get him/her litter trained.

I have wanted a hamster for a while now, and I think I have decided to get a winter white. I hear that they, and the cambells, are the tamest of the dwarfs. I know most people think that syrians are the best for beginners, but I don’t want a hamster that big. It costs more for supplies. What do you think of winter whites? Do you know of any good care sheets?
